In 1981 singer-songwriter Dennis Jernigan walked away from the homosexual lifestyle and decided to follow Jesus Christ. Raised in a Christian home, he identified himself as gay at a young age and constantly feared the persecution of the church. Years of depression and despair followed as he tried to live a double life, while secretly battling his temptations. Even after fully embracing his desires he experienced only more pain and loneliness. Through it all music remained the one thing in which he could find peace and it was through music that God changed him forever. After rededicating his life to Christ in his mid-twenties, Jernigan was inspired to begin his ministry recording music, sharing his story and leading others to freedom. Over the next few decades he would write some of the most popular Christian songs of all time and God would graciously use the torment of his past to bring hope to others. This is a film about hope, identity and the transformative power of the Gospel. By telling his story, Jernigan puts forth an example of what God can do in the lives of those who put their trust in him. Nothing is impossible with God and he wants to bring healing and freedom to all.
